What a magnificent historic church , which now is recognized and officially registered as an official historic structure nationally and part of the Federal Register of Historic Places.. Opens daily guest can tour the magnificent buildings and also tour the famous Grotto of Lourdes housed in its own 185 year old building...
This historic church has architecture to admire as well as a separate building housing the historic 160 year old Lourdes Grotto. Guest are encouraged to visit and view this historic masterpiece and is open daily for just that purpose. Offering Catholic Church services Sat evening and Sun. mornings with all welcomed. All three attractions are located next to Poche Plantation and guest are encouraged to walk the short distance via the connecting walkways. A visit to the area's historic grave yard is also a site and twice yearly hosted by locals in conjunction with Poche Plantation is "The Grave Yard Tour". This in itself is a weekend event that visitors who happen to stay on twice yearly pre-set dates for this event are in for a real treat.

Beautiful cathedral-like structure built in the late 1800’s, serving the Chruch parish established in 1772 after which Ascension civil parish is named. Originally a mission to serve the growing community of Acadians and evangelize the nearby Native Americans; the largest and one of the most historic cemeteries in the area. Tours by appointment.
